Sheriff Fuller has served the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office for 36 years and has nearly 39 years in emergency services, including roles as an EMT, firefighter, dispatcher, and police officer. Before being elected Sheriff, he held multiple positions with-in the department, including Jail Sergeant, Detective, and Operations Sergeant. He serves on numerous local and state boards, including the Kalamazoo County Consolidated Dispatch Authority (KCCDA), Michigan Sheriff’s Coordinating and Training Council (MSCTC), Governor Whitmer’s Gun Violence Prevention Task Force and chairs Advocates and Leaders for Police and Community Trust (ALPACT). He’s a past president of the Michigan Sheriff’s Association and a member of the National Organizations of Black Law Enforcement (NOBLE) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). Sheriff Fuller holds degrees from Kellogg Community College and Spring Arbor University and has completed advanced law enforcement training, including the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (LEEDA} program. Married with two adult children, he is deeply engaged in the Kalamazoo community and has been re-elected four times since 2008.
