NAMI Michigan Honors - Special Honorees John and Gail Urso. NAMI Michigan is proud to recognize John and Gail Urso for their incredible work as mental health advocates. John and Gail Urso are founders of Kevin's Song, a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing mental illness and suicide. Their journey began in March 2013, when their son Kevin Urso died by suicide at the age of 41. Kevin's Song was established to create a collaborative space in the Metropolitan Detroit area where individuals, groups, and organizations focused on mental health and suicide prevention could share information and ideas with professionals, the public, and the media.
